Hey Sara, could you start out by taking us through your typical workday as the founder of Healthy Nibbles?
So a typical workday for me as the founder of Healthy Nibbles would start up 4:30 in the morning and it would begin with a workout in the gym. And that is really essential to me in lots of different ways. It improves mental clarity. It's great for my own personal health goals and really is just one of those ways that I can just get my personal priorities set. I will then spend some time journaling in the morning and just identifying the top three things that we're going to be working on as a business and as a team over the coming week. After which I will spend some time getting my daughter ready for school and have her dropped off and me back in the office for around 7:30. I tend to section my working week in two days where I am very office based and work on the business needs and those days where I'm out travelling. So it's either or where I am pretty much stationary and in the office and we're working on new product development or key accounts and things like that. Or I can be out and about meeting new clients. That's a really exciting part of the sort of my role and I get to work with lots of different companies working on their nutritional employee sort of strategy and looking at the health benefits of sound nutrition in the workplace so that for me is really exciting. I'm usually finished up for the working day around 6/6:30 home in time to get home and make sure we have a family dinner and have some family time together.
What was the "a-ha moment" that lead to the conception of Healthy Nibbles as a brand?
So the a-ha moment we're actually two moments for the creation of Healthy Nibbles and involves two very personal ones and very different. The first was several years ago. It was 3:00 o'clock in the morning and I was sat at the bedside of my terminally ill father and I was hungry. I trundled off to the nearest vending machine to see what I could find and found the usual culprits. Family-sized bags of sweets, crisps, pop none of which were things that I wanted to eat at the time. It really stood out to me that in an environment where people are trying to improve their health and are trying to get better that nutritional wellbeing was not being thought of in that setting. The second was really sort of almost a continuation of that, as a brand an innovation consultant I spent an awful lot of time in other peoples offices and I tend to tend to find that in those environments again nutritional wellbeing was not being considered. Their high-pressure environments. There's an awful lot of long hours as a consultant and companies were not providing healthy options for their employees. This obviously meant that you had to leave the building or bring your own snacks and on those busy mornings there were many times where that was forgotten and you were left with unhealthy alternatives.
What sets Healthy Nibbles apart from other mindful snack companies?
So that's that's Healthy Nibbles apart? Well, we're an award-winning healthy snacks service for corporate and community. We deliver this service through vending, through office boxes, white label box solutions, wholesale and some new product development work for specific clients and through employee nutritional consultancy. Our vending machines have been developed with the specific goals in mind so they are connected to the Internet, they're 100 percent cashless. We have a wheelchair user display option, they provide for nutritional and allergen information prior to a purchase been made. And we also have the ability for people that are using the machine to search the product range based on their dietary profile. We have snack boxes that are delivered to companies ranging from a small office of five employees all the way through to delivering 20000 snacks across 500 boxes to 500 different locations throughout the country. I would also say that our product range is something that we're really proud of. We have over 350 products listed currently and they meet all the sort of major dietary requirements and we're constantly evolving that offering. We've tried to make sure that they're price sensitive too because we want healthy options to be affordable, and affordable to the masses. And that is really really important to us. I would also say that what sets us apart is our passion around making sure that healthy choices are readily available there and easy to do and that we can actually make a tangible difference with the companies that were working with.
Do you have any big ideas for Healthy Nibbles, which you are planning to implement this year?
So big ideas for the remaining part of 2018. We have got lots going on at Healthy Nibbles and we're all about growth and expansion both in terms of geography and the reach that we're actually having. We will be seeing our first own-brand product come to market which is an exciting co-branded product. Which i'm obviously sworn to secrecy. But it's going to be great. It's going to be listed in our vending machines boxes and it's also going to be listed in a few retail outlets throughout the country which is super exciting. We're going to see Healthy Nibbles in two to three different international regions through licensing. Again we're really really excited about that. It's again working with corporates working on the same philosophy of corporate employee nutritional well-being which is super important to us and making sure that that brand is extended throughout these regions and we're looking at increasing the number of vending machines by considerable amounts which is great and just really developing that customer relationship and service so that we can better understand where we can proceed and where we can progress with our clients and what else we can do to support them in supporting their employees for better nutrition.
You are also the Director for the charity Vision Ministries. Can you talk a little bit about that and how the idea giving back correlates with Healthy Nibbles?
So Vision Ministries is a Scottish registered charity working in East Africa more specifically working in Kenya and the purpose of Vision Ministries is really to equip through education and bring relief to those in extreme poverty. It's comprised of a water sanitation program, an abandoned baby unit, an orphanage and an education program that is helping people to equip themselves and their organizations and helping bring improvement through a lifestyle change and through knowledge and through application. For me, the correlation between the work that takes place in Vision Ministries and the work that takes place in Healthy Nibbles is sustainable development. It's all about learning step by step improvements and helping those improvements bring lifestyle change. Whether that is relief to poverty, improvement in health at very grassroots environments or whether that is working within the UK and Europe to bring about an awareness of employee or nutritional wellbeing and helping people make those step by step incremental changes is also really important to look at it really heavily impacts my choice or our choice as a business over the products that we work with and the suppliers that we work with because we don't want to work with companies that are negatively impacting the environment, negatively impacting companies. We want those we want to work with suppliers who have a real appreciation for the impact that their business has on others.
What are some of your favorite healthy snacks?
So at Healthy Nibbles we have over 350 different healthy snacks. So it's really hard to try and pinpoint some favorite ones. I must say I personally am partial to raw chocolate. We have a few brands in so we have quite a lot of choice even in that as far as different formulas, different textures and flavours and flavour combinations which is really exciting and keeps boredom at bay. If I am in a mandatory mood then it has to be chilly lentil crisps because they always hit the spot and if I'm on a hike then I would say cold pressed bars. We also have some really amazing high protein low carb bars which are fantastic for post work out at the gym.
